Auckland Harbour

I went on the harbour trip this afternoon. It was wonderful.

The trip left from the old Harbour building.

The harbour is a mixture of ferries, commercial quays for imports and exports, and pleasure craft.

The guided tour started out slowly, but then we sped across the harbour to the old lighthouse marking the entrance.

The surrounding land is volcanic and the hills in these pictures are extinct volcanoes.

The sun was shining through the trip and we passed some lovely housing perched on the cliff edges overlooking the harbour.

Finally we passed the largest of the marinas, which is the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere and the fourth largest in the world.

A wonderful afternoon!
